PART 4 STUDIO WORK post 2
As well as exploring the place of words in my paintings, I’m also pursuing earlier experiments with wire. I believe it is possible to express ‘sound’ through colour which I’ve shown in the last series of paintings. These, as I’ve explained in the last post, have responded to ‘deep listening’ about the seasons and the viewer’s connection to this listening. But I’m also aware of the ephemeral nature of sound which hovers across the landscape, passes across it and then is gone. This is difficult to achieve in visual art but I’ve gone back the wire work to see if there is a combination here. I’m rather hesitant in these experiments – I don’t want the painting to become just a backdrop. Too much thought and listening have gone into them.
